Cupertino, Calif. -- Symantec, the Cupertino-based e-mail security giant,
said on Tuesday that it has signed a deal to acquire Sygate Technologies,
a Fremont-based maker of compliance software, for an undisclosed sum.
Symantec said that the deal will allow it to create a product that addresses
the security, compliance and remediation requirements of large
companies. Sygate's "endpoint compliance" software help companies
enforce security by guaranteeing that all devices connected to a network -
- desktops, laptops, servers and mobile devices -- are running the
appropriate security software, are configured properly and possess up-to-
date patches. .
