San Francisco -- Snocap, a San Francisco-based provider of digital music
licensing and copyright management services launched by Napster
creator Shawn Fanning, said that it has signed agreements with
independent labels including V2 Music, Matador Records, XL
Recordings and The Beggars Group. The labels will upload their tracks to
Snocap's database, which will then be added to commercial peer-to-peer
services. Snocap also said that it has signed deals with digital music
aggregators Digital Musicworks International, IDEA Distributors, IRIS
Distribution, I AM Music and Entertainment, Kufala and Soulseduction.
The company already has signed agreements with major labels Sony
BMG, Universal and EMI. Snocap will provide authorized music for
legal peer-to-peer services including Mashboxx.
