San Carlos, Calif. -- Cellerant Therapeutics, a San Carlos-based biotechnology
firm developing products and services focused on the regulation of the
hematopoietic (blood-forming) system, said that it has raised $9 million to cap
its second round of funding at $25 million. Camelot Ventures, Amgen founder
George Rathmann and Eminent Venture Capital participated in the second
closing, after Novel Bioventures led the first closing. Cellerant said that the
capital will allow it to advance its program for the treatment of sickle cell
disease, as well as those for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and radiation-
and chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
