San Jose, Calif. -- Cisco Systems, the San Jose-based maker
of
networking equipment, said on Friday that it has signed a deal to acquire
Los Altos-based Nemo Systems, a privately held developer of network
memory technologies, for $12.5 million in cash. Cisco said that the
addition of Nemo's core technology will improve the performance of its
core switching platforms and service modules. The deal is expected to
close by October 29, when Nemo will become part of Cisco's
