San Jose, Calif. -- Capella Photonics, a San Jose-based maker of
wavelength selective switch modules used in optical networks, said on
Wednesday that it has raised $10 million in its fourth round of funding.
Participants in the round, which comes just 11 months after the company
raised $6 million in its third round, included Bay Partner, BCE Capital,
Vanguard Ventures and several private investors. The company said that
ti will use the capital infusion to mass-produce, sell and support its
products. In addition to the funding, Capella also said that it and its
development partner, RED-C Optical Networks, have been awarded a
grant of $1 million from the U.S.-Israel Bi-national Industrial Research
and Development Foundation (BIRD Foundation), which provides
funding to joint U.S./Israeli business teams developing non-defense
technological products.
