Palo Alto, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies, the Palo Alto-based
measurement technology giant, said on Tuesday that it has acquire
Arizona-based Molecular Imaging Corp., a maker of nanotechnology
measurement tools, for an undisclosed sum. Molecular Imaging is known
for its atomic force microscopes, used by researchers working in
nanotechnology. Agilent said that the acquisition will strengthen its
market position in nanomeasurement market. Stuart Lindsay and Tianwei
Jing from Arizona State University founded Molecular Imaging in 1993.
The company has had a continuous relationship with ASU and its Lindsay
Laboratory since then. Agilent said that it has no plans to move the
company's operations from the Tempe area.
