San Francisco -- Nearly a year after first marketing its high-tech toilet seat
known as the Swash, San Francisco-based Brondell said on Tuesday that it has
secured $1.3 million in its first round of funding, including an investment from
billionaire technology entrepreneur Mark Cuban. Brondell introduced the Swash
in January to target the luxury bathroom products market. The high-tech toilet
seat, which starts at $429, features two retractable wands that spray warm water
onto posterior and feminine areas, as well as a heated seat and push-button
operation. The deluxe model, which sells for $549, also includes a warm air
dryer and wireless remote control. Brondell said that it will use the investment
to finalize the development of new products, and expand distribution and
marketing. Cuban joins Brondell's advisory board along with packaged-goods
veteran Todd Schmidt and high-tech marketing veteran Scott Epstein.
