San Francisco -- Siren Systems, a San Francisco-based developer of a tool that
helps consumers to find, sample and purchase music, said on Thursday that it
has landed $2.3 million in its first round of financing, led by Amicus Capital.
Nueva Ventures was among the other participants. Steve Skrzyniarz, the CEO
of Siren, said that the company will use the proceeds to accelerate the creation
of new products, expand the team and enhance its infrastructure to handle
increasing demand. Developed over five years, Siren's Soundflavor search
engine combines song-level search navigation and personalized
recommendations into one package. The company licenses the tool to
consumer and commercial music providers. In October, the company a deal to
integrate its tool onto the web site of Ricall, a music research and licensing
network. When launched, the site will allow creative professionals to quickly
find and license songs to match any mood or setting.
