South San Francisco -- XDx, a South San Francisco-based developer of
molecular diagnostics based on the human genome project, said that it has
raised $26.5 million in a new round of funding, increasing post-money
valuation to more than $115 million. Duff, Ackerman & Goodrich led
the round, which included additional participation from Intel Capital and
all of the company's previous investors. The company's first product, a
molecular expression testing system, allows doctors to non-invasively
monitor the immune system by measuring gene expression in a patient's
blood. At the end of 2005, the test was in use at 11 transplant centers in
the U.S.
