San Francisco -- Riverbed Technology, a San Francisco-based provider of wide-area data services and appliances, said on Thursday that it has launched operations in Japan with the opening of a new unit, Riverbed Technology K.K. The company said that the decision was driven by strong demand from many of its customers and partners. Riverbed has appointed computing industry veteran Shoji Inoue as its country sales manager, leading the new office. Inoue previously served as the managing director of Mirapoint Japan, K.K. "Japan represents a strategic market for Riverbed," said Inoue. "We plan to grow our presence in the country."
