San Francisco - PlanetOut, the gay-focused, San Francisco-based media company that owns Gay.com and publishes the magazines Out and The Advocate, said that it has agreed to acquired RSVP Productions, a marketer of gay and lesbian travel events, for $6.5 million in cash plus up to $3 million in additional considerations. Minnesota-based RSVP, which has 12 employees, posted $8.3 million in revenue for the first nine months of 2005. PlanetOut said that the deal "substantially increases" its position in the $65 billion gay and lesbian travel market. RSVP offers a range of distinctive travel packages, including cruises, land tours and resort vacations geared toward a gay and lesbian audience. Since 1985, RSVP has booked more than 80,000 guests.
