Foster City, Calif. -- Sony Computer Entertainment America, the Foster City-based developer and marketer of PlayStation products in the North American market, said that it has acquired Zipper Interactive, the Redmond, Wash.-based studio behind the "SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs" game franchise. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The companies have collaborated since 1999, with worldwide SOCOM title sales recently surpassing seven million units. Sony's acquisition of Zipper follows its purchase of developer Guerilla B.V. in December.
