Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Trimble, a Sunnyvale-based provider of global
positioning technology, said that it has acquired Advanced Public Safety
(APS), a Florida-based developer of mobile and handheld software
products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. APS' software is
designed to provide information to police officers through in-vehicle
computers and handheld mobile computing devices. In connection with
the acquisition, Trimble said that it plans to leverage its rugged mobile
computing devices and fleet management systems to provide mobile
resource products for the public safety industry.
