Cupertino, Calif. -- Borland Software, a Cupertino-based provider of software development and delivery technology, has agreed to pay $100 million in cash to acquire Segue Software, a Massachusetts-based provider of software quality and testing tools. In addition, Borland also announced plans to seek a buyer for the portion of its business associated with the Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Founded in 1988, Segue has about 200 employees and about $30 million in annual revenue. Tod Nielsen, the CEO of Borland, called the deal a "natural extension of our focus to expand beyond development and into software delivery."
