Menlo Park, Calif. -- Lightspeed Venture Partners, a Menlo Park-based seed and early stage venture capital firm, said that it has teamed with Israeli counterpart Gemini Israel Funds to create a jointly led "Lightspeed -- Gemini Internet Lab." The two funds said that they plan to support 7-10 emerging Internet companies -- who have some operations in Israel -- with an initial investment of up to $1 million each. Investments will focus on technologies related to the Internet and Web 2.0. Jake Seid, a general partner at Lightspeed, said that his firm has been investing in Israel for 10 years, and is "excited to expand our activity" in the country.
