Palo Alto, Calif. -- – Garage Technology Ventures, a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm focused on seed-stage and early-stage technology companies in the western U.S., said on Thursday that it has raised a new fund, with Thomas Weisel Global Growth Partners serving as lead investor. Other participants in Garage Technology Ventures I included Fisher Jurvetson, Silicon Valley Bank and E*Trade. Garage said that the primary purpose of the fund will be to co-invest with its earlier fund, the Garage California Entrepreneurs Fund. When Garage started in 1998, it operated as a “venture accelerator,” helping entrepreneurs raise venture capital and launch their startups. In 2001, the firm changed its name to Garage Technology Ventures and changed its business model to include direct investing.
