Santa Clara-Based TelTel Lands $8.8 Million in First Round

Santa Clara, Calif. -- TelTel, a Santa Clara-based provider of Internet telephony services, said on Wednesday that it has secured $8.8 million in its first round of venture capital funding. The round invluded investments from Purple Communications, Acorn Angels and Parawin Venture Capital. TelTel claims to have more than 1.5 million registered users, as well as partnerships with service providers worldwide. The company said that the financing will allow it to expand its network infrastructure and more rapidly roll out new services to service provider partners.
