Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Aptus Endosystems, a Sunnyvale-based developer of medical devices and technology, said on Tuesday that it has raised $19.5 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by new investor Prism Venture Partners. Another new investor, Baird Venture Partners,and previous investors U.S. Venture Partners and Pequot Ventures also participated. Aptus said that it will use a portion of the proceeds to launch U.S. clinical trials for its Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) product. Ruptured AAA is the 13th leading cause of death in the U.S., causing at least 15,000 deaths a year.
