Fremont, Calif. -- The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), a Fremont-based industry group uniting representatives from data and optical networks, said on Thursday that it will merge with the Fremont-based Network Processing Forum (NPF), an industry consortium of networking semiconductor, software and OEM manufacturers. The deal is expected to be finalized by June, with the combined group retaining the OIF name. The two groups will meet jointly next month in Athens, Greece.
