Santa Rosa, Calif. -- Burst.com, a Santa Rose-based developer of audio and video delivery technology, has filed a countersuit against Cupertino-based Apple, alleging that the company's iTunes technology and iPod devices infringe on its patents. Burst.com said that the filing came in response to a suit filed by Apple in January, in which the company asked a judge to find Burst.com's patents invalid. Microsoft agreed to settle similar litigation filed by Burst.com, paying a $60 million license fee to the company in March 2005. Burst.com said it is seeking a reasonable royalty from Apple's allegedly infringing products, and an injunction against further infringement.
