San Jose, Calif. -- eBay, the San Jose-based online auction giant, on Monday announced the launch of eBay Express, a new area of its site that allows users to buy items at fixed prices from qualified merchants. The site will remain in its preview phase for several weeks, allowing the company to make adjustments based on user feedback. The company said that the site caters to online buyers who typically buy new items and want to make their purchases quickly, without waiting for the end of an auction. All sellers must have a positive feedback score of at least 98% and accept the company's PayPal online payments. For the first time, eBay also is offering an online shopping cart, allowing shoppers to pay for items from multiple merchants at the same time.
