San Jose, Calif. -- AttachmateWRQ, a Seattle-based provider of multi-host access and integration services, said on Thursday that it has agreed to pay $495 million in cash to acquire San Jose-based NetIQ, a maker of software that allows companies to manage and secure their IT infrastructures. Once the deal is completed, NetIQ will operate as a unit of AttachmateWRQ and will no longer be publicly traded. The combined company will serve more than 40,000 clients in 60 countries. The deal has been approved by the boards of both companies and is expected to close in about 90 days.
