Cupertino, Calif. -- Cupertiono-based Apple said on Thursday that it will sell its PowerSchool division, which makes student information systems, to U.K.-based Pearson for an undisclosed sum, Pearson will then develop education content for teachers and students compatible with Apple's iPod. PowerSchool’s web-based software provide K-12 administrators, teachers, students and parents with information on student performance, including grades, homework and attendance. The services complement Pearson’s existing business, which brings assessment, reporting and business solutions to over 16,000 schools. Earlier this school year, Apple and Pearson collaborated to bring digital versions of Pearson textbooks and workbooks to California schools using the Mac mini.
