Sunnyvale, Calif. -- In April, 5.7 million unique visitors visited the official World Cup soccer tournament web site hosted by Sunnyvale-based Yahoo, according to new figures from comScore Networks. Traffic to the site, fifaworldcup.yahoo.com, rose 35% from the previous month. About 51% of all visitors to the site hailed from Germany, with only 10% coming from North America, comScore said. The tournament is not set to begin until June 9 in Germany.
