San Francisco -- Sonific, a San Francisco-based start-up that allows users to upload free, Flash-based music onto their web sites and blogs, said that it has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding. The company also said it has signed an agreement with CD Baby, a distributor of independent musicians' CDs, whose members will be able to distribute their music through Sonific. The company was launched by Gerd Leonhard, who also founded LicenseMusic.com and penned a book on the digital music industry. Sonific will use the funds to further build out its technologies and product offerings, expand its content library and build a global partner network.
