San Jose, Calif. -- Scintera, a San Jose-based developer of semiconductor products for multi-gigabit communication and networking systems, said that it has raised $12 million in its third round of funding and appointed Scott Gibson as its CFO. The round was led by New Jersey-based Ridgewood Capital, and included previous investors August Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers and Sevin Rosen Funds. Scintera said that it will use the funds to ramp production of current products and invest in other synergistic wireline and wireless markets. Gibson has spent the past 20 years in finance, IT, human resources and administration roles at technology companies such as KLA-Tencor, PLX Technology, Soma Networks and, most recently, Cradle Technologies. The company also said that it has added former Broadcom CEO Lanny Ross to its board of directors.
