New York -- The Internet now rivals television when it comes to reach, according to a new study by Ball State University's Center for Media Design for the Online Publishers Association. At work, the web dominates other forms of media, reaching nearly 55% of workers, compared with television's 21%. It also ranks No. 2 in the home. The report estimated that 17% of overall media consumption now comes through the Internet. "Based on our real-world observations, it is clear that consumers are consistently online even while they're watching TV or listening to the radio," said Pam Horan, president of the Online Publishers Association. The study included 350 participants, whose media usage was monitored every 15 seconds for 13 hours.
