Milpitas, Calif. -- Rackable Systems, a Milpitas-based provider of servers and storage products for data centers, said on Tuesday that it has signed a deal to acquire Terrascale Technologies, a Montreal-based developer of clustered storage systems, for $38 million in cash. Rackable also has the option to pay an additional $9 million to retain the rights to a technology known as Distributed Parity Engine (DPE). Terrascale's systems are designed to eliminate the performance bottlenecks inherent with legacy network attached storage architectures.
