Redwood City, Calif. -- Openwave Systems, a Redwood City-based provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, said on Thursday that it plans to cut 65 jobs, including that of its COO. The cuts also will include the positions of CMO, chief administrative officer and chief corporate strategy and business development officer. "By taking these steps we will reduce the numbers of layers of management between our customers and our field and product organizations," said David Peterschmidt, the CEO of Openwave. The company said that it will incur up to $10 million in charges to cover related expenses.
