Redwood City, Calif. -- A number of game industry veterans from Electronic Arts and other firms have announced the launch of Trion World Network, a Redwood City-based company that will develop and publish games and original entertainment for broadband platforms. Founders of Trion include Lars Buttler, former vice president of global online at Electronic Arts, and Jon Van Caneghem, the founder and former president of New World Computing and creator of the "Might and Magic" and "Heroes" game franchises. The company said that it has received an undisclosed sum of initial funding from Doll Capital Management and Trinity Ventures.
