Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Sunnyvale-based Yahoo is in talked to acquire Palo Alto-based Facebook, the second-largest online social network with 9.5 million members, for a sum approaching $1 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday. Facebook has previously held negotiations with both Microsoft and Viacom -- which also bid on MySpace, but lost out to News Corp.'s $580 million winning bid. BusinessWeek reported in March that Facebook rejected a $750 million buyout offer, hoping to see a $2 billion asking price.
