San Francisco -- Digg, a San Francisco-based site that posts news stories whose prominence is determined by votes from a community of users, has recently been in acquisition talks with companies including Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, according to TechCrunch.com. Citing "multiple sources close to the negotiations," the site reported that Digg has been unable to secure the $150 million-plus price it was seeking, and will likely look to a second round of venture capital financing in lieu of a buyout. News Corp.'s Fox Interactive Media unit has made a string of acquisitions since its formation in 2005, including the MySpace online social network, video games site IGN.com and movie reviews site RottenTomatoes.com.
