Mountain View, Calif. -- Mountain View-based Google has launched a beta test of its Google Audio Ads service, which lets marketers use the company's automated system to purchase ads on U.S. radio stations, CNET News.com reported. The service utilizes technology from dMarc Broadcasting, which was acquired by Google last year. Ryan Steelberg, Google's head of radio operations and a co-founder of dMarc, told News.com that the test is being limited to 20 advertisers and 730 radio stations, including XM Satellite Radio. The first Google Radio Ads are now running in more than 260 metropolitan markets, Steelberg added. The company is also testing a service that produces radio ads for inexperienced marketers.
