Milpitas, Calif. -- LSI Logic, a Milpitas-based maker of data storage chips, said on Friday that it will acquire Fremont-based SiliconStor, a developer of silicon products used in storage networks, for $55 million in cash. LSI said that the acquisition, which will add about 30 employees, will position it as one of the only storage building block suppliers with offerings for all nodes in the storage systems architecture. The deal is expected to close before the end of March.
