Mountain View, Calif. -- Nuance Communications, a Massachusetts-based supplier of speech and imaging technology, said on Thursday that it will acquire BeVocal, a Mountain View-based provider of self-service customer care technology for mobile communications service providers, for $140 million. Nuance said that the acquisition will expand its product portfolio with technology for mobile customer lifecycle management and a range of premium services for mobile consumers. BeVocal's customers include Cingular, Liberty Wireless, Metro PCS and Virgin Mobile. Nuance said that it expects the acquisition to add between $21-$23 million in revenue this fiscal year, as well as up to $70 million in fiscal 2008.
