Emeryville, Calif. -- Pandora Networks, an Emeryville-based provider of unified communications services for businesses, said that it has raised $6 million in its first round of funding from the New York-based D.E. Shaw Group. The company said that it will use the proceeds to build out its infrastructure with investments in networking technology and expansions of its data center. It also plans to hire personnel for operations. Pandora is a provider of hosted communications services for small and mid-sized businesses. The company's core offering combines voice and IP calling, switchboard and call-distribution services, instant messaging and conferencing.
