San Francisco -- Completing a deal first announced last September, San Francisco-based Embarcadero Technologies, a maker of software designed to improve the management and security of corporate data, said on Wednesday that it has been acquired by private equity firm Thoma Cressey Bravo. Embarcadero, now a privately held company, said that the $200 million deal gives it the "resources and flexibility" to accelerate the development of its database marketing tools. Embarcadero was founded in 1993 and went public in April 2000. The company now serves more than 12,000 customers internationally. Embarcadero also said that it has promoted Raj Sabhlok to president and CEO. Sabhlok joined the company in 2000, and most recently served as its senior vice president of operations.
