San Francisco -- Curse Inc., a San Francisco-based gaming portal dedicated to massively multiplayer online games (MMOG) and their fan communities, said on Thursday that it has raised $5 million in its first round of funding from French venture capital firm AGF Private Equity and angel investors. The company said that the terms of the funding will allow it to retain operational and creative control. Launched in 2005, by founder Hubert Thieblot, Curse offers video and screenshot sharing, wikis, databases, add-on downloads, social bookmarking, blogging, forums and guild web site hosting. The company also raised more than $800,000 through an angel round of funding in December.
