Redwood City, Calif. -- Spock, a Redwood City-based company developing a search application that organizes information about people, said on Wednesday that it has launched a public beta version of its site. The year-old company had launched a private beta version of the site in April. Unlike Google and Yahoo, which index web pages, Spock said that it organizes information around a specific individual. The site creates a snapshot of a person's presence from public sources on the web, including a brief biographical summary, pictures and other related content. Registered users also will be able to add content to bolster their own profiles, as well as those of others.
