Palo Alto, Calif. -- Caring.com, a Palo Alto-based web site with community and content features for people caring for aging parents, said on Friday that it has launched a beta version of its site and landed $6 million in its first round of funding from DCM and Split Rock Partners. The company said that it will use the proceeds to further develop its site and add employees to its editorial and development teams. Caring.com, a free, ad-supported site, offers original "how to" guides, time saving information and access to experts, in addition to community features. Founders include CEO Andy Cohen, as well as CTO Steve Fram and editor-in-chief Jim Scott. The latter two both previously spent eight years building a web site for BabyCenter. "We’re launching Caring.com to help people figure out what they need to consider in caring for their parents, and also offer connections to others going through the same situation, to make a difficult journey a little bit easier," said Cohen.
