Palo Alto, Calif. -- Citrix Systems, a Florida-based provider of application delivery infrastructure, has completed its acquisition of XenSource, a privately held, Palo Alto-based provider of virtual infrastructure technology, for about $500 million in a combination of cash and stock. Citrix said that the acquisition moves it into the adjacent server and desktop virtualization markets. The acquisition will also strengthen each company's partnership with Microsoft and "commitment to the Windows platform," the company said. The XenSource team and products will form the core of the new Virtualization & Management Division of Citrix, the company announced. Peter Levine, CEO of XenSource, will lead the new division.
