Palo Alto, Calif. -- StemCells, a Palo Alto-based biotechnology company, said that it is exploring the acquisition of Progenitor Cell Therapy (PCT), a New Jersey-based provider of cell processing services. StemCells said that the companies are currently negotiating terms for a possible deal. The company also has agreed to make a secured loan of $3.8 million to PCT "to bridge some of its planned capital needs as it pursues its own growth strategy."
