Service returned to normal on Tuesday for BlackBerry users in North America, who experienced widespread data outages for more than three hours Monday afternoon, marking the second time in less than year that the popular mobile devices have suffered a major service disruption. "No messages were lost and message queues began to be cleared after normal service levels were restored,"said Canada's Research In Motion (RIM), which makes the devices. The company has yet to offer an official explanation for the outage, which affected the email and web surfing capabilities of about half of its 12 million customers across all wireless carriers. BlackBerry users also experienced a major disruption last April.
