S.F.-Based Critical Path Sells SuperNews Usenet Business to Giganews

San Francisco -- Critical Path, a San Francisco-based provider of messaging software and services, said that it has sold its SuperNews Usenet access business to Giganews, a provider of newsgroup services to more than 10 million broadband subscribers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal included the business's software, commercial customer base and trade names. Critical Path said that a newly created company, known as Supernews Inc., will purchase the business's consumer customer base. Critical Path said that the sale will allow it to "focus on delivering innovative consumer messaging solutions for mobile, fixed-line, and broadband service providers."
