San Mateo, Calif. -- Tano Capital, a San Mateo-based private equity firm that makes investments in India and China, said on Friday that it has invested $12.45 million in India-based Icomm Telecommunications through the purchase of an equity stake from an existing shareholder. Icomm is one of the largest manufacturers of telecom equipment and telecom infrastructure in India, boasting a client list that includes Airtel, Nokia, PowerGrid of India, Reliance and Vodafone. "We like the management team, the business and the growth prospects for this ancillary business to the telecom and power sectors," said William Knuff, III, a managing director at Tano.
