Santa Clara, Calif. -- SkyPilot Networks, a Santa Clara-based provider of broadband wireless mesh networks, said that it has raised $3.4 million in a new round of funding from previous investors, including August Capital and Mobius Ventures. The company, which raised $21 million in a round that closed in mid-2006, now has raised $70 million since its inception. SkyPilot plans to use of the funds to continue expanding its sales activities, as well as to bring new products to market for its customer base of broadband wireless service providers. "The recent financing is designed specifically to bring SkyPilot to profitability," said Paul Gordon, the company's president and CEO. SkyPilot's technology allows service providers, municipalities and public safety agencies to rapidly deploy wireless applications such as broadband access, Voice-over-IP, Wi-Fi and video surveillance.
