San Francisco -- aniBoom, the San Francisco-based operator of a network of independent animators who produce original cartoons and animations, said on Friday that it has raised $10 million in its second round of funding, co-led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures. Previous investor Evergreen Venture Partners also [participated in the round, which the company plans to use to expand its operations, fund short form content for web and mobile platforms and develop original animation series for television. Founded in 2006 by Uri Shinar, aniBoom currently has a network of more than 4,000 independent creators. "aniBoom is the innovator of the now very hot virtual digital animation studios and animation incubation model, and to see the major media and entertainment powers following suit is a strong endorsement of our vision," said Shinar.
