San Mateo, Calif. -- Jivox, the San Mateo-based developer of a self-service online video advertising platform for local businesses, said on Monday that it has raised $10.7 million in its first round of funding, led by Opus Capital. New investor Helion Venture Partners also participated in the round, as well as the company's previous investors. Jivox said that it will use the new capital to continue development of its platform, as well as to expand its sales and marketing efforts. Launched in March, the platform allows smaller businesses to develop and place online video ads on their own. Jivox was founded in 2007 by Diaz Nesamoney, who previously founded Informatica and Celequest.
