San Francisco -- Planet Metrics, a San Francisco-based developer of software designed to help clients reduce their carbon emissions, said that it has officially launched operations and raised $2.3 million in its first round of funding from angel investors and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Founded in early 2007 by Andy Leventhal and Aaron Dallek, the company offers carbon modeling and visualization software. The tools allow customers identify hot spots of carbon intensity in packaging, supply chain, transportation, logistics and disposal. Planet Metrics also just won a deal to measure and analyze the amount of carbon and other greenhouse gases emitted at January's International CES consumer electronics show.
