Milpitas, Calif. -- Sigma Designs, a Milpitas-based maker of digital media processors for consumer electronics, said on Thursday that it has acquired Fremont-based Zensys, a developer of wireless technology for the automation and remote control markets. Financial terms of the all-cash deal, expected to close by year's end, were not disclosed. Zensys' headquarters will be physically merged into the headquarters of Sigma Designs in Milpitas. Zensys is a developer of single-chip radio frequency chips called Z-Wave that have been designed into over 250 smart home products in the areas of audio/video entertainment, lighting and appliance control, energy management, access and security control and building automation, among others.
